"Plate Napoleon I In Jena After A Painting By Horace Vernet - Josef Kuba Carlsbad"
PORCELAIN plate, inspired by a painting by Horace VERNET representing the Emperor NAPOLEON I on his horse at the head of his army surrounded by two marshals at IENA. According to legend, Napoleon reprimands an overly eager grenadier of his Imperial Guard, who asked to attack ("forward!") during the battle of Jena. The rim is very richly decorated with garlands gilded with fine gold.
