"Rare 16th Century Carved Oak Dresser From Lot With Napkin Folds Front With A Carved Door"
Rare Renaissance dresser in richly carved oak with a central door closed by a latch. This "Cabinet" perched on its rectangular feet is richly ornamented, typical of the mid-16th century (Henry II). It is a beautiful piece of provincial dining room furniture that comes from a castle in the Lot, a region it has never left since 1550. Rich in sculptures with the famous napkin folds on the side panels, it offers on the front an apotheosis of sculpture with fine motifs in a natural oak petrified by time (except worms who would break their teeth on it). The decoration of the front is distinguished by its ornamentation divided on each side and on the central door rich motifs of trophy of honor and bands decorated in tortoiseshell and oblique circular gadroons both surrounding a scepter stick, the scales running everywhere on the rich front make this Renaissance piece of furniture a jewel of contained dimensions easy to place; practical and of a certain decorative interest... A truly beautiful piece that will take you on a journey through time....
