"The Door By Armand Petitjean "
Armand PETITJEAN (1909-2004) la porte, oil on panel (isorel) signed lower right, format with frame 64cm x 37cm, format without frame 48cm x 22cm. Engraver and self-taught, he won the Gustave Doré Prize for engraving at the age of 18. In 1933, he founded a private painting academy in Pau, but he only really began to exhibit in the Parisian Salons after the war, winning the Prix de la Jeune Peinture in 1946, before gradually evolving into an almost surrealist post-cubism, then more and more abstract.
