Student of Antonin Mercié at the Beaux-Arts, he is part of a dynasty of ceramists, sculptors and medalists whose works can be found almost everywhere in France. The Thiébaut frères foundry was one of the most important art foundries in France during the 19th and 20th centuries. Their creations can be seen all over the world, and more particularly in Paris where they adorn dozens of squares and gardens, including the Place de la République, the Place de la Nation, the Place Vendôme, the Ile aux Cygnes (reduction of the Statue of Liberty). In 1901, the foundry was sold to Gasne.
