Object description :

"An Angel Woman - Nude Bronze Circa 1960 By Tenkō Fujino 1903 - 1974"
Bronze with black patina - two micro shocks at the tips of the wings.
This astonishing sculpture leads us to discuss the sex of angels.
In the Book of Enoch, an apocryphal version of the Old Testament from the 3rd-1st century BC; angels are sons of God, uniting with women, in order to destroy humanity. - There is no mention of a female angel in the Holy Scriptures.
The Fathers of the Church (4th-5th CE) thought they were masculine. The Catholic conception will make the angel an intangible being.
Most representations that have been made of angels give them a masculine gender.
The question is still not resolved today by the church.
  - Tenko Fujino, Japanese artist offers us a sensual (and unorthodox) answer to this age-old question.
Small emerging wings emerge from the young woman's back. Placed on a rockery, like a Greek statue, she sketches a meditative half-smile.
The artist: In 1928, graduated from the sculpture department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts - studied with Seibo Kitamura - From 1929 he won prizes, and exhibited in Europe and the United States before the Second War.
He created a number of monuments, participated in the creation of museums, restoration of temples, etc.
Museum in his hometown, retrospective in Chiba in 2003 – Works at the National Modern Art Museum in Tokyo.
An illustrated note on the artist / a certificate will be given to the buyer.  Weight 9.3 kg
