Note: Godefroy Armand Joseph Auguste GUINARD was a French engineer, architect, artist and politician. Born in London in 1836, he studied at the École Polytechnique and the Ponts et Chaussées, and between 1857 and 1860 was awarded three first prizes in sepia wash painting at the latter school. He was a member of parliament for Savoie.
