"Original Plaster Bas Relief Sculpture By Jean Dulac 1902-1968"
"The Education of Bacchus" original bas-relief sculpted by Jean Dulac, an artist from Lyon, a student of Louis Prost and André Vermare, he worked as a workshop manager at Paul Landowski for his Prix de Rome. This bas-relief, kept by his son Jean Dulac, was presented at the exhibition he organized to commemorate the centenary of his father's birth in 2002. It is reproduced on page 49 of the catalog published on this occasion. We acquired this work following the death of Jean Dulac fils in 2022. Over the years it had been covered with several layers of paint which had the effect of reducing the depth of the sculptures and thus the realism of the work, hence a meticulous stripping in order to restore its original appearance. The sculpture material is cast in a metal structure to a thickness of 5 to 6 cm and weighs approximately 50 kilos
