The handle is called "antique fashion" and is made of brass
BLADE: It gradually widens from the hilt towards the tip: this is the characteristic of falchions. After a ricasso of 10.5 cm, the blade has a single edge that extends to the tip. A sharp concave counter-edge joins the main edge at the tip.
The back of the blade is decorated with geometric notches. The 2 sides of the blade have on the first third a geometric decoration engraved with etching.
Length of the blade = 77.8 cm, width near the handle = 3 cm, width at the widest 7.2 cm, thickness near the handle = 3.4 mm.
GUARD: it is made of brass, in the antique style. Two quillons are curved towards the blade and decorated with false rivets.
THE HILT is decorated with strands, and forms a single piece with the pommel which is "in a mermaid's tail shape". The tang of the blade is riveted at the center of this tail.
This weapon, when original, is very rare, and particularly expensive.
Here we are in the presence of a 19th century production, which has the advantage of being very decorative for a modest price, even if some liberties were taken by the craftsman compared to the medieval models (which he probably never had in hand)
