Very Rare Small Pewter Alcohol Pitcher (tin) - Paris, 18th Century

Very rare small open pewter PITCHER, shouldered shape and plinth foot.
Control mark "à la nave" used from 1765, showing the arms of the city and the initials V.D.P for Ville De Päris.
Incompletely legible mark of François DEGLAND received master in 1738, due to the strike of the control mark overlapping it. The last photo shows the rubbing of the complete mark of this master previously taken on another piece.
Height: 10.3 cm.
PARIS, Around 1770/80.

Good condition of preservation.
Generally speaking, pewter pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime, but the very small ones measured alcohols.
These pitchers born without a lid were preferred to those that were equipped with one, considered more cumbersome by the waiters. They are also much rarer, especially in these very small dimensions.
