A pupil of Juan Bauzil, Cior depicted in his numerous miniatures (mainly on ivory) a large number of personalities of the European nobility of the time. He worked at the Russian and Spanish courts and held the title of Spanish court miniaturist. While the portraits created in the early and late years of his activity were generally considered mediocre due to their uniformity and rigidity, C. achieved greater vitality in the years after 1805 through loose brushwork and erased backgrounds. Many miniatures are in private collections. In addition, C. left some religious paintings (e.g. for the Monastery of the Visitation in Paris).
