"Yellow And Green Grésale (tian)"
Glazed terracotta gresale in perfect condition. On a yellow background, "spots" of green. Two partially enameled handles. The shape is unusual, usually perfectly circular, this one has an oval shape. No defects. Versatile container widely used in the south and southwest of France, as well as in Spain. It is roughly the equivalent of the current basin. The gresale is used for preparing food (making jams, preserves, pâtés, sausage meat, etc.), to collect the blood when killing the pig. Its use has extended to tableware. The gresale is not a dish for cooking food, but only for preparing it. It is not made to withstand cooking temperatures.
