"Profile Sculpted On Plaster By René Princeteau Dated 1868"
Interesting oval bas-relief, representing the profile of René Princeteau, dated 1868. René Pierre-Charles Princeteau (1843-+914) born in Libourne, is famous for his paintings of horses, was the friend of and the master of Henri de Toulouse L'autre. This sculpted portrait in profile on plaster is in the taste of David D'Angers, but it only bears the name of the model. Perhaps it is a self-portrait.
