"Sea Battle On The Shore"
Oil on canvas mounted on cardboard, "Naval battle on the shore", With Louis-Philippe Crépin, he is one of the first two official painters of the Navy. His first paintings, influenced by the romantic spirit and the English school of painting, are noted. Having become a painter close to power, he was placed on the same level as Vernet, before sinking into oblivion and being rediscovered by maritime historiography.
