"Isfahan Wool Rug Signed Serafian, Circa 1975"
Isfahan rug, made around 1975 in Iran and signed "Iran Serafian", is made with high quality lambswool velvet (kork wool), embellished with touches of silk around the floral motifs. The foundations, warps, wefts and fringes are in silk, offering an elegant and resistant structure. The rug has a density of approximately 10,000 knots per square decimeter and is in good general condition. Its ivory field is decorated with multi-colored floral palmette scrolls and scrolls, with a polylobed floral rosette in the center, in shades of old pink, midnight blue and beige. The midnight blue corners are decorated with serpentine and floral motifs. This rug is bordered by five friezes, the main one of which, ruby-colored, has delicate interlacing of flowering branches.
