Good general condition, dimensions: 54 cm X 46 cm Pierre GRISOT was born in Besançon in 1911, a French figurative painter known for the liveliness and elegance of his works that evoke the post-war period. His precocious talent led him to exhibit in Montmartre from the age of ten, before entering the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts. His first major Parisian exhibition took place at the Ror Volmar gallery in 1949. His talent quickly seduced amateurs and gallery owners, opening the doors to the most prestigious galleries in London, Tokyo, Venice, as well as museums in the Middle and Near East. Pierre GRISOT rubbed shoulders and associated with masters such as Bonnard, Utrillo, Dufy, Vlaminck, and Marie Laurencin, some of whom became his friends. GRISOT's work is a vibrant homage to Paris and its Parisian women, his compositions with portraits of women with ravishing silhouettes and naughty modesty, whether coquettishly elegant or admirably undressed are among his favorite subjects, his choice of radiant, intense and bold colors evoke the Art Deco era. With a rich palette of colors and a unique touch, he left an indelible mark on the history of French pictorial art, offering a tender and enchanting art that continues to amaze current generations.
