"Pair Of Buttercup Yellow Damask Brocatelle Curtains - France Louis XV Period Circa 1740"
Circa 1740 for the 19th century brocatelle for the assembly France Exceptional pair of curtains in buttercup yellow damask brocatelle dating from the Louis XV period. Brocatelle in silk, silk and linen stuffing with large ordered and exotic decoration loaded with pineapples, stylized pomegranates and acanthus leaves. The damask effect is obtained by a twill weave for the background and a satin weave for the decoration. Each curtain is unlined revealing three sewn strips with their selvedges. The pleated assembly of the top and the brass rings allow a curtain installation without modification. 19th century fringes on the central part of the pair of curtains. Note a very slight variation in the yellow color (very difficult to notice), as well as two micro dirt marks (1 cm each). No holes or stains. Very good condition of color and conservation for its age. Very resistant and flexible fabric allowing possible reuse for an upholsterer. Dimensions: 217 cm high, 155 cm wide at the bottom and 92 cm wide at the top pleats, each curtain.
