"The Source, After An Engraving Taken From The Work Of Boucher."
Lovely grisaille, executed at the beginning of the 19th century, after an engraving, taking up a painting by François Boucher. We no longer present this emblematic artist of the gallant taste which was furiously fashionable under Louis XV. He delighted great collectors, and his work was frequently engraved. This is how we have here the resumption of the engraving in painting, which is at the very least funny. The execution is of good quality and makes it a pretty decorative element. It is in excellent condition, freshly cleaned.
