Rome, 3rd century AD, very pretty balsam jar in iridescent blown glass, with a bulbous body and an elongated neck flared at the top. The balsam jar was a container used to hold perfumes and ointments. Good condition. Traces of soil incrustations.
Height 13.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a well-known brand. Provenance: - old collection of a great lover of ancient Rome of Lebanese nationality living in Canada. - old collection of a French specialist in antiquities prior to the 16th century.
