"Workshop Of François Adam Van Der Meulen (1632-1690), 2 Battle Drawings Of Louis XIV"
Workshop of François Adam Van Der Meulen (1632-1690) Louis XIV at the Battle of Cassel in 1667 Courtray 1667 Wash and ink on paper Size: 17 x 25 cm Our research led us to an album kept at the Louvre which traces the battles of Louis XIV, which were donated by Edmond de Rothschild in 1935. The drawings in the collection are all enhanced in color unlike our sheets which are in wash, but of the same size. The most plausible theory is that a second album was made in wash. The Louvre gave the drawings of the album in full to Van der Meulen, we think more that it is a work of the workshop under the supervision of the Master.
