Oil on canvas, signed lower left. Dimensions 65x55cm and 80x70 cm with its frame by Fernand Legout Gérard. He discovered Concarneau in 1890 and returned there for more than forty years. Member of the National Society of Fine Arts and the Pastel Society of London, he was appointed painter of the Navy in 1900. He settled permanently in Concarneau in 1903, establishing himself as the "painter par excellence of the markets and ports of Brittany". He chaired the committee of the Fête des Filets Bleus and was an ardent defender of the ramparts of the city cmose. He devoted himself entirely to painting. He was a painter, watercolourist and draftsman. His house, the famous villa Ty Ker Moor, became a meeting place for the "painters of Concarneau". He painted markets, fairs, and people returning from fishing. He was a favorite painter of lovers of scenes from daily life and picturesque scenes, as in our typical painting of his work.
