SHAKO OF OFFICER AIDE-DE-CAMP OF HORSE-HUNTERS, model 1874, Third Republic. 27994 In cardboard covered with sky blue cloth, bordered on the upper part with a 2.8 cm high braid, woven in Hungarian stitch called "lizard braid" in silver braid; bourdalou in black patent leather; hunting horn, symbol of the weapon, in gilded brass, H 2.7 cm, width 4.8 cm. Cockade in tinplate stamped with a radiant sun, tricolor lacquered, on which is fixed a square braid with double strand in silver braid held by a smooth gilded half-spherical button. On the sides, air vents in painted steel in the color of the background cloth. Chin strap with gilded brass curb chain lined with black velvet; on the sides and back of the headdress, at the level of the braid and the bourdalous, three gilded metal lion heads hold the chin strap; round visor, top in black patent leather circled with a gilded brass rush folded astride the outer edge, width of the visor 4.5 cm; underside of the visor in green waxed leather. Inner headdress composed of a black patent leather headband decorated with a gilded frieze at the top. Interior of the headdress in fine ivory canvas.
