We see a "high character", draped in a red coat, his face hidden, who is conversing with a seated beggar (or ascetic), dressed in a simple blue tunic. The expression on the seated man's face is remarkable: he smiles broadly, his expression accentuated by the play of shadows and light. This conversation takes place in a Roman-style setting, made of broken columns and olive trees.
The colors are bright, perfectly preserved. The work is signed V. Bellat at the bottom left. It is mounted on cardboard. It is offered under glass, in a modern patinated wooden frame, in very good condition.
