Pair of gilded and patinated bronze vestal candlesticks Consulate period 1799-1804. The shafts are formed by vestals dressed in antique style in brown patinated bronze. They each carry on their heads a delicately chiseled gilded bronze cushion with pompoms on which rests a wicker basket richly decorated with finely chiseled flowers. They end with a circular molded base decorated with friezes of pearls and water flowers. Mercury gilding and original patina in good condition (slight wear to the gilding). Quality work with harmonious proportions.
