Object description :

"Antique Hand Painted Cabinet Porcelain Plate, Sevres Style, Middle 19th Century."
Antique hand painted cabinet porcelain plate in Sevres style created in the middle of 19th century in France. The plate covered in turquoise blue glaze with gilt trim and decorated with gold floral ornament. The decorative gold floral motifs around the rim enhance the elegance of the piece, signifying the high-quality craftsmanship. In the center the scene depicting a couple in 18th-century attire, which is characteristic of the romantic themes often explored in porcelain art during the 19th century. The signature on the picture reads "C. Velly", referring to Charles Velly, who was known for his work at the Sèvres factory, particularly during the mid-19th century. He was recognized for his delicate and detailed painting style, often illustrating themes of love and romance, which aligns with the scene depicted on the plate. Despite the fact that on the base there is marking used at the Sevres, I’m guessing that's it is not correct. I'm close to saying it's a nice done copy, very close to original. At that time there were many porcelain factories in France, and very often they bought blank unpainted pieces from the Sevres manufactory and had it finished, which in no way detracts from the beauty of this plate. Sevres and other porcelain manufactories in France is the cradle of European porcelain. It is the largest ceramic center of handmade porcelain production, which for many years determined the development of porcelain in Europe. French porcelain was highly prized for its delicate and intricate designs, which often featured intricate floral patterns, landscapes, and scenes from mythology, history and rural scenes. The porcelain was also known for its soft and creamy glazes, which gave it a unique and ethereal quality. It should be noted that it does not lose its value for collectors and in our days.
