Male figure standing on a circular base, he holds a whistle symbolically placed under his chin as a sign of wisdom. His headdress is arranged by a large central bun and lateral lobes, his face displays a concentrated expression accentuated by the closed eyes like coffee beans. Hardwood with localized brown patina, yellow ochre pigments and signs of use. Punu, southern Gabon, early 20th century. Dimensions: 16.3 X 5.8 cm Provenance: former collection of a Parisian doctor, collected by his uncle (French military), in the first half of the 20th century. Sold with certificate of authenticity from the expert Serge Reynes Guaranteed to be original and of period. * Shipping costs on estimate.
