Coat of arms on the 16 covers of this remarkable copy of the Empress future Queen of France Marie Antoinette.... Penultimate Edition M.DCC.XL. (1740) and one of the most complete of the Historical Dictionary of Louis Moréri which is the first French Dictionary of Proper Names. Very complete in 8 Volumes: the first edition was published in 1674 in a single volume. Famous work and enjoying a high reputation. Our copy, despite some defects on the spines of the bindings is in good general condition and presents a unique interest: It comes from the Library of Marie Antoinette, Archduchess of the Holy Roman Empire. Each cover of the 8 volumes on both sides is in fact marked with the Number (Monogrammed) of this illustrious Historical personality (MA), surmounted by the Crown of Archduchess. The Work being in its French edition and not German; it is permissible to suppose that it was offered to her by her Family in Vienna, in anticipation of her Marriage with the Dauphin, future Louis XVI in 1770
