Very beautiful folio volume in vellum printed in Paris in 1688. "Marca Hispanica sive Limes Hispanicus". Original Edition by Pierre de M en Béarnarca, Historian of Béarn and Great Jurist of the 17th century (1594-1662). Born in Béarn, he was first President of the Parliament of Navarre and the Council of Pau, then Intendant of Justice in Béarn and Navarre. Widowed in 1642, he entered the Orders and became Bishop of Bouserant (Ariège), then Archbishop of Toulouse (1652), before ending up Archbishop of Paris (1662). His knowledge of the Pyrenees and his legal and historical skills allowed him to be appointed Visitor General of the Principality of Catalonia and the Coasts of Roussillon and Cerdagne (1644). This led to his appointment, in collaboration with the Bishop of Orange, by the Royal power, at the head of a Commission responsible for finalizing the border between France and Spain. Then in 1660 the King (Louis XIV) appointed him to the conference of Cére which would fix the definitive limits between the two countries.
