The telescope is signed "Edmond Lorieux, Paris"
Edmond Marie Lorieux, (1832-1909) was a French engineer, inspector general of mines, secretary of the General Council of Mines from 1879 to 1888, president of the Statistical Commission of the Mineral Industry and Steam Appliances.
He was also the supplier of maps and plans of marine, astronomical and other instruments for scientific use to the Navy archives.
The telescope is composed of a brass tube covered with dark brown leather.
The telescope measures 78 cm closed and 93 cm extended, diameter 6 cm.
The lenses are original and in good condition.
