"Seville School Around 1600"
oil on copper circa 1600 representing the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, Seville school. The virgin has her eyes lowered towards the ground and is surrounded by symbols of the litanies. These symbols come from both the old and the new testament, from the song of songs, some are borrowed from trees and flowers. The Immaculate is an enclosed garden, a fountain of gardens, and a well of living water; she is compared to the cedar of Lebanon, to the olive tree, and to a rose bush. Small losses, to clean, the whole in good condition
