"Pierre Nicolas Brisset (1810-1890), 19th Century, View Of The Colosseum, Rome, Grand Tour, Watercolor, Framed"
Very beautiful watercolor by Pierre Nicolas Brisset (1810-1890), representing a view near the Colosseum in Rome. A student of PICOT and COUDER at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he received the Prix de Rome in 1840, which allowed him to go there and discover this superb city. It was during his stay in Italy that he produced this superb work, with warm and contrasting colors, testimony to the gentleness of Roman life at the time. He later returned to Paris, exhibited at the Salon from 1847 and collaborated on the development of various galleries in Versailles and Parisian churches. Wonderfully well framed with its period frame measuring: 26 x 32 cm.
