Marble sculpture in high relief
Italy, 18th century (antique inspiration)
This sculpture represents a Roman emperor in profile, facing right, wearing a laurel crown.
The face is finely detailed, with marked and realistic features, particularly at the level of the aquiline nose and pronounced jaw.
The hair, represented under the crown, is meticulously chiseled, and the crown itself, composed of laurel leaves, rests elegantly on his head.
This sculpture is set in a wooden frame painted in imitation of porphyry and in gilded bronze.
