"Elegant 18th Century Powder Compact With Portrait Of Lady With Crown Of Roses, All In Ivory"
The harmony of ivory .... This beautiful and sober Louis XVI period powder compact is all in ivory including the support, encircling the miniature with a finely chiseled bronze surround with its domed protective glass. In perfect condition, this piece whose central work is signed R. Danys represents a lady of quality seated and covered with an ornate shawl on a slightly cloudy blue background braiding a crown of roses. This pretty blonde Lady, with long hair with a pale blue ribbon in her braiding work observes us seated and melted out of the decor she challenges us ... from an ethereal decor from which she seems to emerge, it is a delightful piece, accomplished, like all the Dieppe work of the 18th century. The lid is decorated on the edge with a groove, the finely turned underside is worked molded. This elegant and graceful powder compact carries all the French charm of the mid-16th century and is in good condition.
