A work created with exceptional expertise
This exceptional piece required more than 2000 hours of work for the model maker Rosina Merlini. A recognized specialist in the reproduction of historical works, Merlini has captured in this painting the very essence of Jacques-Louis David's painting, transposing with remarkable precision the details and solemnity of the scene. The coronation of Napoleon is a moment full of symbolism and grandeur, featuring key figures of the time, including Empress Josephine, Pope Pius VII, as well as many dignitaries and members of the imperial court.
Rosina Merlini's work was not limited to a simple reproduction. It is a true work of art in relief, which brings to life the characters and settings of the scene. Each character, each drape of clothing, each accessory has been reproduced with meticulous care. The expression of the faces, the posture of the bodies and the texture of the clothes are the result of meticulous attention, testifying to great technical and artistic mastery.
A masterpiece of technical prowess
The creation of this picture frame did not stop at the modeling work. Indeed, an entire year was necessary for specialized technicians to design and refine the mold intended for the manufacture of each pewter copy. The complexity of the scene, the multitude of details, as well as the precision required to faithfully render the expressions and textures required very high-level technical skills.
The mold creation process is a key step in the manufacture of this work. Each detail of the mold must be perfectly calibrated to guarantee a faithful reproduction of the scene. The pewter used for this piece, a noble and durable material, allows to capture all the finesse of the details, and this picture frame is distinguished by its impeccable quality of execution. This technical know-how is the legacy of a long artisanal tradition, perpetuated by passionate craftsmen who have known how to combine technological innovation and traditional techniques.
A unique decorative element from the 20th century
This 20th century picture frame is a decorative element of rare elegance. Its historical theme, from the Napoleonic era, is of great symbolic richness. It embodies the authority, grandeur and glory of the Empire, while paying homage to one of the most famous works of Jacques-Louis David, master of neoclassicism.
Pewter, a material traditionally used for prestigious objects, gives this piece durability and timeless aesthetics. The frame, in a classic style, enhances the beauty of the scene represented, and its three-dimensional relief allows you to appreciate David's original work from a new angle. Far from being a simple flat reproduction, this relief painting allows you to better understand the depth and grandeur of the historical scene, while integrating perfectly into a modern or more classic interior.
A goldsmith's work, between art and history
This piece embodies the perfect alliance between art and technique. The 2000 hours of work invested by Rosina Merlini are evidence of the passionate commitment to revive one of the most emblematic scenes in French history in an innovative and original form. The precision of the details, both in the characters and in the settings, shows an exceptional artistic rigor. In addition, the work of the technicians for the creation of the mold reflects a know-how that can only be acquired through years of experience and absolute mastery of relief reproduction techniques.
With only 250 copies created, this picture frame is more than just a decorative object. It is a unique work of art, which finds its place as much in a private collection as in a refined interior. Its rarity, underlined by its number 178, makes it a real treasure for lovers of Napoleonic history and collectors of works of art.
