In the center, a 7-pointed star (heptagram) surrounded by 7 stylized flowers. 7 registers with stylized shapes and 7 leaves develop around this star. The use of this number in the decoration of this dish is far from trivial, it reminds us here of the great significance that the number 7 has in the holy book of Islam, the Koran.
Some examples:
* The heptagram in Islam is used to represent the first 7 verses of the Koran.
* The 7 rounds around the Kaaba.
* The 7 skies, 7 colors of the rainbow, 7 layers of the earth's crust...
* The piece and its decoration are fired at the same time in 3 registers in blue, yellow and fusing green (respectively cobalt, antimony and copper oxides)
* The heel is pierced with 4 holes: two close together, two far apart. A through crack present, another non-through. (See photo) Do not call into question the condition of the dish. Very good state of conservation, polychromy very present. Old Moroccan ceramics are becoming more and more difficult to find, they are often very damaged and/or incomplete.
