Louise Marie Becq De Fouquières (1825-1892) - Oil on Canvas - The Cottage Oil on canvas depicting a cottage with chickens Please note traces of restoration on the back of the canvas Louise Marie Becq de Fouquières or Louise Marie Anaïs Dedreux is the younger sister of the painter Alfred De Dreux. Louise studied with the painter Isidore Pils. She exhibited for the first time at the Salon of 1857, with a pastel entitled La prière. She specialized in particular in pastel portraits of women, many of which were exhibited at the Salons between 1857 and 1884, alongside numerous landscapes. Among her close friends was Georges-Hippolyte Géricault, the natural son of the artist Théodore Géricault, with whom she maintained a long correspondence. Visible at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, at 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
