"Small Rosewood And Amboyna Burl Coffee Table, Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period –"
Charming table in rosewood veneer and amboyna burl with marquetry decorations. This one has a top with a floral composition in the center on a rosewood background, surrounded by an amboyna burl rim with Greek angles. This rim is accompanied by a marquetry of stained woods forming geometric friezes. Around it, we observe a frame formed of strips of rosewood veneer arranged diagonally. The top of this small table is surrounded by a shaped bronze rod. On each of its faces, the belt of this table is decorated with rosewood and amboyna burl surrounded by a lemon tree net. On the front, a bronze entrance and chiseled key, accompany a single hook lock, original and in working order. When opened, we discover a mahogany interior with a dark flap of a mirror with a bronze frame, on brass hinges and a storage space of three lockers. This delightful little piece of furniture rests on 4 turned legs with stopped grooves decorated with asparagus on the upper part. On the lower part, there is a concave spacer connecting these 4 legs with in the center a bronze sculpture in the shape of an urn topped with a torch. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
