"Walnut Writing Chest Of Drawers, Restoration Period – Part 1 Of The 19th Century"
This small walnut writing chest of drawers opens at the waist with a drawer whose front, mounted on an inlaid compass, folds down with brass push buttons to reveal a writing area. The latter, upholstered in olive green leather with corner patterns, gilded and cold-stamped vignettes, is accompanied by two small drawers with a walnut burl front and turned buttons. This piece of furniture also has three identical drawers and a slightly lower drawer forming a plinth. All these drawers, except the latter, are equipped with original functional locks with later keys and bronze-chiseled entries. The whole rests on discreet rounded feet. The top is decorated with a double molding on the edge. The sides are darkened with recessed boards.
