Biography Gérard Fortuné was born in 1924, 1925 or 19332 in Montagne-Noire, a district of Pétion-Ville in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince. He paints on recycled materials, as an autodidact and then under the inspiration of André Pierre and Hector Hyppolite. His paintings can be classified into three categories or themes: still lifes and genre scenes, voodoo or Christian religious scenes, and portraits of political figures.
