The circular white enamel dial with Roman numerals is signed Autray. The gilt brass hands, openworked and finely cut, retain their original design. The movement, likely wire-suspended, is housed in a fine-quality case, testifying to the care taken in its craftsmanship.
Autray Fils, a Parisian clockmaker, worked successively on rue d'Aboukir (1812), rue des Fossés-Montmartre (1812), and then rue Bourbon-Villeneuve (1817–1831). His name is associated with elegant timepieces, often inspired by historical styles.
