"The Animated Towpath In Normandy. Jean Pierre Dubord. Hst 50 X 61 Cm"
Jean Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen in 1949, and after spending years in the French countryside, he returned to his hometown to depict the environment of his youth. While Rouen is a favorite subject for his paintings, he often depicts Paris, the Normandy countryside, the beaches of Deauville and Houlgate, the cliffs of Caux and Étretat, and paintings along the Seine. He is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each season in the manner of Jean Claude Monet (Impression, Sunrise, 1872). Dubord has his own approach to painting, depicting our modern society in a very pleasing and colorful way. For decades to come, he would remain a post-impressionist artist of the traditional French school, which is rare these days. His palette is rich in tone, fresh and uplifting. His work is well-regarded, earning him many prestigious awards. The painter's compositions, as varied as they are, reveal his own intense joy of life and his love for the rhythm of nature. In addition, they are distinguished by a nuanced use of color. The artist's mastery of the secrets of light trapped on these canvases and the very delicate poetry in his painting, can be attributed to the Impressionist masters, but it also carries a very personal touch. In 1970, he had his first exhibition of about thirty paintings in Rouen, a show that was highly appreciated by art critics. In addition to an annual show in Rouen, he has also exhibited in Bordeaux, Le Havre, La Rochelle, Osaka, Quebec, not to mention major and famous salons in Paris. One critic noted that Dubord is guided only by his heart and emotions.
