"Japanese Writing Case (suzuri Bako) In Gold And Silver Lacquer"
On a ro-iro (black) lacquer base, the decoration represents a silver moon partly hidden by a hira maki-e cartouche and two other vertical cartouches against a background of autumn plants on the banks of a river. The inside of the lid shows a pair of mandarin ducks swimming near a prunus tree. Inkstone and silver mizu-ire. Origin: Japan. Period: late Meiji (1868-1912). Dimensions: H4.5 x 27.5 x 22 cm.
