"Iridescent Vase Signed Zumbo"
Iridescent vase with floral decoration signed under the base by the French master ceramist Dominique Zumbo Arènes Frejus Var (1854-1939). He shared the invention of metallic reflections with his famous master ceramist Clément Massier in Vallauris. Then he created his own workshop at the Arènes de Frejus in 1892. He also received the gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900. His works are signed for the first period "Dominique Zumbo, Arènes de Fréjus-Var" and for the second period "Dominique Zumbo-Hyères-Var". The secret of his particular technique of metallic reflections from metals melted in local vinegar, disappeared with him in 1939 when he died in Lafarlede. Very good condition, note a slight snag on the underside of the vase (See photo)
