Montblanc Limited Edition Writers 2011, a meticulously designed piece celebrating the Italian author Carlo Collodi, the creator of Pinocchio, one of the most striking characters in children's literature. The imaginary story of Collodi, the wooden puppet in search of childhood, has enchanted generations and has been the subject of numerous adaptations in film, art and theater. Carlo Collodi, born in Florence in 1826, worked as a librarian, translator, novelist, author and political writer. Every detail of the limited edition is carefully designed to reflect Collodi's epic masterpiece. The main material is a precious dark brown resin (lacquer). Characters from the book, including the voracious whale, the faithful cricket, the shady fox, the deceitful cat and the good fairy, are featured on the cap’s skeletonized overlay. A screw inserted into the clip symbolises the famous puppet’s joints, while the stem recalls Pinocchio’s legendary growing nose. The limited series number and Collodi signature adorn the top of the cap, while the cricket on the 18-carat (750) champagne gold nib completes this limited edition of 12,000 pump-action fountain pens.
