Exceptional and rare 18th century solid silver sugar sifter spoon, filets model. Spatula engraved with period coat of arms under Count's Crown. Spoon with superb pierced decoration articulated around a central rosette of tulips encircled by a chain of navettes. Charge (large crowned A) and Discharge (monkey head) hallmarks for PARIS 1774-80, Jurande hallmark for PARIS 1779 (Crowned Q), Countermark (good faith) and Hallmark of Master Goldsmith Jacques Louis ALLEN, a specialist spoon maker (as indicated in the Almanac printed in 1772) received in 1758. A renowned goldsmith, he was elected several times Guard of the Parisian Goldsmiths in 1766, 1767, 1780 and 1781.
