"Little Silver Parrot With Garnet Eyes "
Adorable little parrot in solid silver, on a perch, the chain on the leg forming a pepper shaker when the head is removed. The eyes are made of small garnet cabochons (one of the eyes has probably been changed, the stone is faceted). It bears, in addition to a tiny guarantee hallmark (swan) under the base, the hallmark 800 typical of Italy, but accompanied by a shield hallmark in the center of a capital P. Dating this object is complex. Certainly made before the 1950s, but the shield hallmark makes it older. I was also able to see on the internet while doing research, a perfectly identical parrot photographed in a private collection, bearing English hallmarks, and given as an object from the 19th century. To conclude, it still weighs around a hundred grams, it is an object full of charm ideal in a cabinet of curiosities.
