"Pair Of Silver Shoe Buckles, Circa 1800"
Superb pair of solid silver shoe buckles, imitating cut stones. Indeed the goldsmith has done a remarkable job, in order to imitate the rhinestones that adorned the buckles of prestigious shoes. In a style still perfectly late 18th century, they could have been made under Louis XVI, they bear four hallmarks. The rooster standing in an oval, proves a tax and the guarantee of the empire. More difficult to read a head profile in a circle and one, or even two neck braces (poorly carved) complete the successive passages to the control. Note the quality of the articulated part, forged in the shape of a clawed B. Gentlemen, break the codes, leave your jeans and move on to the "culotte" !
