Beautiful self-portrait of Auguste Clément Chrétien 1835-1913. Oil on canvas (55 X 47) signed lower right and dated 1882 in its original frame with some small losses.
He was born in Choisy-le-Roi, painter of genre, history and portraits.
He was a student of H Flandrin and ML Lamothe. He debuted at the 1857 salon and obtained an honorable mention in 1859. (E Benezit, dictionary of painters sculptors designers and engravers.
Nice portrait of nature in good condition.
