"Marcel Dyf "woman Of The World" 1932, Oil On Canvas"
Marcel Dyf "Femme du Monde" signed and dated 1932, this portrait of a glamorous woman, both relaxed and elegant, is highlighted by the talent of Marcel Dyf who for once abandons his little Parisian girls in favor of this worldly woman with an enigmatic face. Very good condition, period carved and serused wooden frame of 68 x 80 cm, chassis 49 x 60 cm Marcel Dreyfus, known as Marcel Dyf (Paris October 7, 1899 - Bois d'Arcy, September 15, 1985), is a post-impressionist painter. He began to exhibit, in particular at the Salons of Paris and on the Côte d'Azur and in 1955, began a collaboration with the Frost and Reed gallery in London which still exhibits his works. From 1956, his talent better recognized, led him onto the international scene. Flowers and women, folk scenes, Provençal and Breton landscapes inspired this master of Impressionism. Yvan Audouard, who knew him well, wrote: "He was charm made man and this almost harmed his painting. It gave the impression of such ease that it seemed superficial while it was learned, demanding, rigorous and concerted. This is what, over the years, appears more and more clearly. And we can see how audacious it was." The city of Arles paid tribute to Marcel Dyf during the 1962 exhibition and the Saint-Martin-de-Crau ecomuseum held a retrospective of this painter in 1995.
