Oil on canvas from the Louis XVI period representing the portrait of a gentleman of his time.
The face of this young man is of pink complexion, his cheeks enhanced with a more sustained blush, the expressive eyes and a slight smile can be guessed, according to the conventions of the time.
The character is dressed in an "emerald green" livery (unusual color) whose edges are decorated with rich gold embroidery.
The outfit is completed by a lace tie.
The gentleman wears a hairstyle "à la mode" under Louis XVI, which ends with a ponytail.

The portrait represented oval stands out against a light background; the signature of the painter "Borgnis" and the date of execution of the painting "1778" are marked at the bottom left of the canvas.

The portrait has been relined and cleaned.
Note some old restorations.
The canvas is surrounded by a carved rod in gilded wood from the period.
