"Fishermen Under The Moon – Oil On Canvas – 20th Century"
Night fishing scene: we see 3 fishermen in a boat, on a calm sea lit by the moon. The 3 men are pulling up a net where the sparkle of a few fish shines that will join those that we see in the basket at the bottom of the boat. Two of the men are wearing a citre hat, the third is wearing a beret. The sail of the boat is rolled up on its mast and stored on the side of the boat. The moon and a few stars shine high in the sky.
The touch is light and quick. T
he work is signed P. Maillane at the bottom left. It is inspired by a painting by G. Haquette, "Fishing on the high seas".
The work, in good condition (some invisible repairs on the front), is offered in a molded wooden frame, with a gray and gold patina, in very good condition.
Work visible at the gallery (07240).
